The Potomac Chapter of the Adjutant General’s Corps Regimental Association is headquartered in our Nation’s Capital, Washington, DC. The Potomac Chapter is unique as it is spread between 10 locations within the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. The National Capital Region is comprised of the Pentagon, Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Fort McNair, Fort Meade, the White House Military Office (WHMO), Defense Intelligence Agency, Fort Belvoir, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Fort Detrick, Fort A.P. Hill, and Quantico Marine Corps Base.
Our mission is to provide opportunities for mentorship, professional development, and building esprit de corps. The National Capital Region encompasses so many different organizations from traditional Battalions and Brigades, to Army and Joint Staff Headquarters, to specialized organizations such as the NSA, White House, and DIA. It presents the Chapter with the unique challenge to bring the entire National Capital Region (NCR) AG Community together, present relevant programs, and be the larger, overall AG leadership role that an installation MPD or Division / Corps G1 usually holds.
To rise to this challenge, the Potomac Chapter holds regular esprit de corps events like “fun runs” at key locations within the NCR, volleyball at Fort Belvoir and Fort Myer, and bi-monthly socials after work to build spirit de corps within the Chapter. Due to the large footprint of this chapter, we rely heavily on the wonderful volunteers holding the Regional Vice President positions at further locations such as Fort Meade, Aberdeen Proving Ground, and Fort Detrick to host events and build up the AG Community within these installations.
We also hold larger semi-annual events to provide a venue to recognize Army HR Professionals and update the AG Community: breakfasts, leadership discussion panels, and informational briefs. Our annual events are volunteering at Wreaths Across America at Arlington National Cemetery, our Maude Memorial Golf Tournament, and our annual AG Birthday Ball.
